Over the years many industrial diesel engines have been converted for marine use. There are several big names in this category. Some are based on the same Kubota powerplants use by Beta Marine. Others are unique. Some of the older versions, such as the marine conversion of the VW Rabbit diesel are no longer in production but may be available in good working condition.
