Kathy's Korner

Roger Strube MD / Roger H Strube MD

Roger and I met at Bay View High School in 1957 and have sailed together ever since. Although I enjoy sailing and cruising, I am not interested in racing. I have always enjoyed cooking (even on Millennium Dragon when we cruise), gardening and sewing.    When cruising, I take a small garden in a planter with us so fresh herbs are available.  Although meal planning and cooking on a boat are always a challenge, it is made easier on a large cruising catamaran without the heeling and rolling motion.  Of course the full size deep kitchen sink, large refrigerator/freezer, four burner propane stove/oven, microwave and lots of Corian counter top space help. I completed several sewing projects for the boat including all the cushions, the sail cover, sunscreens and tool holder pockets. I carry one of my sewing machines on the boat while cruising and have used it to repair sails. While on shore I enjoy creative sewing projects.  Many of these have been done as Christmas and birthday presents for family and friends.  I have recently joined the local quilting guild.  One of my quilts evolved into such interesting individual compositions that I had several panels (Kathy’s Quilt-Lets) framed. Pictures of these panels were printed on Avery note card stock and small packets of 4 designs were family Christmas presents this year.  Several of these projects are pictured below.
